Former Chamber President (1956) Neville Parry was recognized posthumously with the Ken Hodgins Meritorious Service Award for his long-time dedication to the local business community. The award is presented at the discretion of the Chamber’s Board of Directors. Parry’s daughter, Jill Tomanek, accepted the award on his behalf.
Meanwhile, Johnny B FITT earned Small Business of the Year honours. Karen Miller, of Welcome Wagon, won the Volunteer of the Year award for her dedication to leading the significant growth of the Fort Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce Farmers’ Market.
“Congratulations to all the winners and nominees. Earning a Fort Saskatchewan Chamber of Commerce Business Award isn’t an easy feat. It takes hard work, dedication and a passion to serve this city in exemplary fashion,” said Business Awards Gala committee chairperson Ken Charuk.
The 27th annual Business Awards took place in the Lions Mane banquet room at the Dow Centennial Centre. Comedian Brett Martin entertained the sold-out crowd before the hardware was handed out.
The Chamber of Commerce Business Awards Gala is held annually during Small Business Week.
