The Fort Saskatchewan & Lamont County Regional Chamber of Commerce was pleased to host an official visit today from Lisa Makin, Mayor of Fort Saskatchewan, accompanied by City Councillors Gale Katchur and Birgit Blizzard.
Representing the Chamber were Executive Director Colin Fagnan, President Wade Robichaud, Vice-President Gerald Corbiere, Treasurer Tamara Dabels, and Board Members Melissa Saretsky, Alyson Mitchell, and Kathryn Dragowska.
The visit served as an opportunity to provide City officials with a comprehensive update on the Chamber’s transformation over the past year. The organization has undergone a full revitalization, including:
- A new name and expanded regional mandate
- A newly elected and energized Board of Directors
- New staff leadership and operational improvements
- A new office location
- Enhanced member perks, programming, and strategic direction
Mayor Makin expressed interest in viewing the Chamber’s new office space and learning more about how the organization is positioning itself as the voice of business for Fort Saskatchewan and the surrounding region.
During the discussion, the Chamber formally thanked the City of Fort Saskatchewan for its support of several major initiatives over the past year, including:
- The Mayor’s Lunch – State of the City Address
- Small Business Week Mini-Summit
- Annual General Meeting & Business Awards Ceremony
In turn, City representatives expressed appreciation to the Chamber for hosting the Municipal Election Forum, recognizing the important role the Chamber plays in strengthening civic dialogue and engagement.
Board members were available for discussion and questions throughout the visit, which also provided a valuable networking opportunity between civic and business leadership.
The meeting also included a discussion on broader economic conditions, including tariffs and the ongoing uncertainty surrounding U.S.–Canada trade relations and their potential impacts on businesses in our region.
