This exciting 12-week position focuses primarily on supporting the Fort Saskatchewan Farmers’ Market—our flagship summer event—as well as offering operational and administrative support for other Chamber events and initiatives. For the right candidate, this role has the potential to evolve into a longer-term opportunity beyond the initial term.
Term: Full-Time, 12 Weeks Minimum (May to July 2026) / Possibility for Extension
Wage: $18.00/hour
Location: Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta
Hours: 35 hours/week
Mon, Tue, Wed, Fri: 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Thurs: 11:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Executive Director and working closely with the Events Coordinator, the Events Assistant will support the planning, coordination, and execution of the Chamber’s Farmers’ Markets and other key events.
Farmers’ Market Support:
● Support the Farmers’ Market Manager in weekly operations
● Develop and maintain weekly task lists to ensure smooth execution
● Assist in planning and coordinating special market events and themed activations
● Coordinate with community groups and partners to enhance market programming
● Assist with vendor coordination, communications, and relationship management
● Support market layout planning and basic vendor analytics
● Create and update weekly market maps, vendor lists, and operational documents
● Assist with on-site setup, execution, and teardown of weekly markets
Events & Member Engagement:
● Assist with planning and execution of other Chamber events throughout the Summer
● Attend Chamber events, including Chamber Mixers and networking functions
● Build and maintain positive relationships with vendors, sponsors, venue partners, and stakeholders
● Engage with Chamber members and manage membership growth, renewals, and engagement initiatives, and act as a welcoming front-of-house presence for walk-ins and office visitors
● Follow up with Chamber members regarding outstanding invoices or membership inquiries
Administrative & Team Support:
● Provide general administrative support, including office duties
● Support team members across events, communications, and operations as needed
● Assist in maintaining organized records, documents, and event materials
● Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
Required:
● Must be between the ages of 18 and 30 at the start of employment
● Must have been a student in the previous academic year
● Legally entitled to work in Canada
● Available to work Thursdays (market days) and occasional evenings for events
● Strong interpersonal skills and comfortable engaging with the public
● Ability to lift up to 20 lbs
Preferred Skills & Assets:
● Highly organized with strong time-management abilities
● Interest or experience in sales and business development
● Outgoing, proactive, and confident in a fast-paced environment
● Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
● Experience in event planning, customer service, or community engagement
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.) as well as Canva
● Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle (asset)
● Current First Aid certification (asset)
