October 1st, 2026 - The Fort Saskatchewan & Lamont County Regional Chamber of Commerce welcomes today's announcement that Pacific Link, the proposed West Coast oil pipeline originating near Bruderheim, has officially been designated a project of national interest by the Government of Canada.
This represents another significant step forward for a project with important implications for our region. Pacific Link is proposed to transport approximately one million barrels of Canadian oil per day from the Bruderheim area to Canada's west coast, expanding access to global markets while supporting investment and economic activity here at home.
When the project was formally proposed earlier this year, our Chamber welcomed the momentum being created around major energy and trade infrastructure. Today's announcement builds on that progress and provides a clearer pathway for Pacific Link to move through the federal review process.
Colin Fagnan, Executive Director of the Fort Saskatchewan & Lamont County Regional Chamber of Commerce, welcomed the announcement:
"Located at the heart of the region known as Alberta's Industrial Heartland, our communities are exceptionally well positioned to support major investments of this scale. The potential benefits extend well beyond the pipeline itself, creating opportunities across construction, manufacturing, logistics, professional services, skilled trades, and the many businesses that support Canada's industrial economy."
There remains important work ahead as Pacific Link moves through consultation, regulatory review and project development. We are encouraged to see continued progress and collaboration, and look forward to the opportunities this project could create for Bruderheim, our broader region, Alberta and Canada.
